Our client is seeking to appoint a Director of Private Capital. This confidential search represents a rare opportunity to join an established Australian investment manager with a strong track record across private markets. Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you will shape the firm's private capital strategy, lead capital raising initiatives, expand its investor base, and play a pivotal role in the next stage of the business' evolution.
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for leading capital raising initiatives and cultivating long-term relationships across Australia or Asia Pacific region, especially Hong Kong, Singapore and China, wholesale investment market.
While the primary focus is Australia, the role also provides exposure to investors across the broader Asia-Pacific region, especially Hong Kong, Singapore and China, engaging with a sophisticated network of high-net-worth investors, family offices, private wealth firms, financial advisers, dealer groups and investment platforms.
Working closely with the executive leadership and investment teams, you will help shape fundraising strategy, contribute to new product initiatives and provide market intelligence that informs strategic decision-making and supports the firm's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Raising & Distribution
Develop and execute the firm's private capital strategy.
Lead capital raising across a diversified investment platform.
Build and deepen relationships with family offices, private wealth firms, financial advisers, dealer groups, investment platforms and other wholesale investors.
Maintain a robust pipeline of prospective investors and strategic distribution partners.
Represent the business at investor meetings, conferences, roadshows and industry events.
Investor Relationships
Develop trusted long-term relationships with key investors and distribution partners.
Increase participation from existing investors through proactive engagement.
Manage investor activity and pipeline reporting through CRM systems.
Strategy & Leadership
Partner with executive leadership on product development and capital formation initiatives.
Provide market intelligence and investor insights to support business growth.
Lead and mentor the investor relations and distribution function.
Work collaboratively across investment, finance, legal, compliance and operations teams.
About You
You are an experienced capital raising professional with an established network across Australia or Asia, especially Hong Kong, Singapore and China, wholesale investment market and a successful track record of raising capital for investment products.
You'll likely bring:
10+ years' experience in private capital, wholesale distribution, investor relations or institutional business development.
Demonstrated success raising capital through family offices, wealth managers, financial advisers and wholesale investor channels.
Strong understanding of private markets, real estate and alternative investments.
Existing relationships across Australia or Asia Pacific, especially Hong Kong, Singpaore and China, wealth management landscape.
Outstanding commercial, communication and stakeholder management skills.
An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate as a trusted adviser to senior executives.
Chinese speaking will be advantaged, but not necessary.
