About Your Role

You will report directly to the People & Performance Lead as a People & Performance Specialist (ER Specialist) and be responsible for managing complex and high‑risk people matters end‑to‑end in line with organisational policies, procedures and relevant industrial instruments.

As a member of a team of 6, the role applies specialist expertise to support a fair, consistent and just culture, with a strong focus on risk mitigation and sound decision‑making.

The role provides expert advice, coaching and practical support to people leaders on sensitive and complex matters, including performance management, conduct, grievances, inherent requirements and show cause processes. Matters addressed by this role typically require nuanced judgment, formal inquiries, and a consistent application of policy and procedure.

You will enjoy interacting with diverse stakeholders and possess the communication and relationship skills to thrive in a fast paced, diverse and complex environment.

Your Key Focus

As a direct report to the Team Lead, People & Performance.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• In collaboration with People Advisory team, triage complex and sensitive people matters
• Receive case handovers from People Advisory once matters meet defined thresholds
• Case management of highly complex and sensitive performance, conduct, grievances, inherent requirement and show case matters end to end in compliance with policy and industrial instruments
• Attend with and support managers through performance and disciplinary meetings including preparation or information, in briefing and out briefing
• Maintain ER case files to audit standard including document governance
• Maintain high-quality case management documentation induing drafting of case reports
• Liaise with Unions and other employee representatives throughout processes
• Conduct case reviews and audits, and ensure standards are met and issues identified for systemic improvement
• Collaborate with Scope Investigation Team (SIT) to establish investigation scope, strategy and prioritisation

Your experience shall align with

• A tertiary qualification in HR or a related field preferred, plus extensive experience in an HR generalist role, with a focus on employee relations
• Strong knowledge of governance, regulatory, and legislative requirements impacting employment, including the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, enterprise agreements, Equal Opportunity
• Ability to advise and coach leaders on performance management using relevant tools and frameworks
• Significant experience in developing, implementing, and facilitating employee relations processes in a high volume environment
• Experience in a unionised environment and multiple industrial instruments
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and build trusted relationships within a diverse and geographically dispersed organisation
