About the role
Working at the Roy Fagan Centre – A Career with Purpose
Who We Are
The Roy Fagan Centre (RFC) is Tasmania’s statewide specialised inpatient mental health facility for older persons, and part of Older Person’s Mental Health Service (OPMHS). We provide compassionate, person-centred care to individuals experiencing acute mental ill health, neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia, and complex psychiatric conditions. Our multidisciplinary team works across four purpose-built units, each designed to support dignity, safety, and therapeutic engagement. We are currently recruiting for multiple roles within our team.

Our patients are older Tasmanians age 65+, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50+, who require specialised mental health support. We also support individuals with young-onset neurodegenerative conditions.

As a Lifestyle and Leisure Assistant at the Roy Fagan Centre, you will play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life of older Tasmanians receiving specialised mental health care. Working as part of our Lifestyle and Leisure Team, you will support the planning and delivery of engaging, person-centred activities that promote social connection, emotional wellbeing, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity. You will encourage and support consumers to participate in meaningful programs tailored to their interests, abilities, and personal preferences, while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and therapeutic environment. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to build positive relationships with consumers, families, and multidisciplinary team members, contributing to recovery-oriented care and helping create the vibrant, homelike culture that makes the Roy Fagan Centre unique.

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$68,854 to $73,947 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
