Purchasing / Procurement Officer

Salmon Earthmoving is part of the Sime Industrial Group & one of the largest heavy equipment rental companies in Australia.  Salmon rents & supports a complete range of Caterpillar & other heavy machinery used in mining & construction sectors, providing high quality plant for short- & long-term hire throughout Australia.

About the Role:

Purchasing / Procurement Officer required for our Head Office at Stapylton.

You’ll play a key role in supporting our maintenance operations across multiple sites, overseeing procurement and logistics for parts and components from both internal and external sources.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Raise & process PO’s for the maintenance team.
• Identify, interpret, and source parts.
• Follow up on outstanding or overdue orders.
• Maintain accurate inventory records for parts, supplies & equipment.
• Build & maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely & correct deliveries.
• Collaborate with the warehouse team to monitor delivery schedules & resolve any delays or discrepancies.
• Negotiate pricing & delivery terms with suppliers to ensure value & reliability

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable and willing to take initiative. This role sits in a fluid environment dealing with internal and external stakeholders; working across multiply systems and within a shared inbox. This role would suit an individual who is customer service focused and comes from a parts interpretation / stores background.

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Previous experience in a similar environment and industry.
• Established proficiency of CAT SIS software (essential).
• Prior knowledge of mobile plant and equipment parts highly advantageous.
• Good organisational skills, attention to detail with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
• Positive attitude, great communication skills and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Commitment to Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) policies.
• Current and valid forklift ticket (LF) (highly desirable)

The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment medical & a drug & alcohol screen.
