Peer Support at Peach Tree

Peer support roles involve gently walking alongside parents and families, drawing on your own lived experience in ways that feel safe, intentional, and supported. A Peer Support Worker is a designated lived experience role, where your experiences are valued as a source of knowledge, connection, and care. Due to the peer-led nature of our service, an inherent requirement of the position is personal lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges, which is used intentionally and professionally to support others.

As a Peer Worker, you may:

• Co-facilitate peer support groups and programs
• Help create spaces where parents feel safe to share and connect
• Offer empathy, understanding, and hope through shared experience
• Support access to helpful services and resources
• Engage in ongoing reflection, supervision, and learning

Hours, Pay, & Location

• Hours: Part-time, flexible school hours (typically 9am-2:30pm)
• Pay: $40.49 per hour + super + salary packaging (SCHADS Level 3.1)
• Location: We currently operate throughout greater Brisbane (Nundah, Coorparoo, Ipswich, Caboolture), Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Cairns.

About You

You might consider peer support work at Peach Tree if you:

• Have lived experience of mental health challenges related to pregnancy, or early parenthood, and feel ready to use this experience purposefully
• Are open to learning, training, and reflective practice
• Value compassion, respect, and non-judgement
• Hold or are willing to obtain a Blue Card (Working with Children Check), National Police Check, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccination
• Have full, unrestricted working rights in Australia and are based in Queensland

You don’t need prior peer work experience. Your lived experience and willingness to learn are what matter most.
