The Information and Records Management (IRM) Section plays a central role in ensuring DVA’s information is managed as a reliable and accessible record of Government activity.

IRM supports records management across the full lifecycle, from system capture and day-to-day use through to storage, access and long-term preservation. The work spans four key areas:

• recordkeeping systems and tools, including Content Manager
• records governance and practical advice to staff
• records collections and repositories, including legacy paper records
• library and mail services

The role requires a high-performing APS6 Records Manager who can operate with limited direction, exercise sound judgement in complex records and information management matters, understand and interpret policy and legislation and provide practical guidance to staff, stakeholders and team members.

Depending on your area of expertise, you may support digital recordkeeping systems, contribute to the management of repositories and collections, or provide advice to strengthen recordkeeping practices. This may include supporting the effective use and continuous improvement of EDRMS platforms, repositories and related information management processes.

We are seeking a capable and adaptable APS6 who can deliver practical, high-quality records management services in a complex environment. 

DUTIES
As an APS 6 Records Manager you will be required to:

• Deliver and maintain best-practice records management services across physical and digital environments
• Provide advice on recordkeeping lifecycle obligations, including compliance, risk and appropriate handling practices
• Apply legislation, standards and policy in operational and governance contexts
• Analyse recordkeeping practices and deliver projects, initiatives and improvements that strengthen records management practices
• Develop and maintain records management policies, procedures and guidance
• Support and administer records systems and repositories, including Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS)
• Apply information security, privacy, and confidentiality requirements while supporting access, permissions, control and disposal processes
• Promote good recordkeeping practices through guidance, training and stakeholder engagement
• Manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes
• Supervise staff in a dispersed environment and support team capability development.

ELIGIBILITY 

• Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
• All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
• The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
