Deliver academic skills development programs and resources that promote independent learning, student engagement and academic success.Collaborate with academic and College staff to identify emerging student needs and learning challenges, ensuring support services remain responsive, effective and accessible.Full time is negotiable, Fixed-Term (3 months) position located in Hobart.
About The Opportunity
The Learning Adviser supports student academic success by delivering a broad range of academic skills development services that foster independent learning. Working within the Student Academic Success area of the Academic Division, the role collaborates closely with academic and College staff to identify student learning trends, challenges and emerging needs, ensuring services remain relevant and responsive. The position contributes to student transition, engagement, retention and success through the provision of targeted programs, resources and support, including peer learning initiatives as required.
What You’ll Do
Provide individual consultations to students and timely follow-up of students identified and referred by staff and through Studiosity.Contribute to the review, development, and promotion of a range of learning services, resources, and programs to support student learning, including UniStart, the Study Toolkit, Peer Learning Programs, Studiosity, and workshop and webinar offerings.Collaborate with key stakeholders to support student development of literacy, numeracy, scientific literacy and/or other academic skills within the context of courses and units, ensuring the services and programs provided are relevant and responsive to the needs of the cohort.Work collaboratively with Student Support Services and key stakeholders to understand the learning needs of students.Work in the context of a culture of continuous improvement, taking a solution-focused approach to identifying issues and recommending opportunities for improvement in consultation with the Manager.
What We’re Looking For
A degree in Education, or a relevant field.Experience teaching students in a range of settings, including one-on-one and in small and large classes, in both online and face-to-face environments.Demonstrated experience in providing support to tertiary students in the development of literacy and academic skills, including numeracy development and scientific literacy.Understanding of the needs and challenges of students from diverse backgrounds, including neurodiversity.Successful experience in the planning, development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of learning services and programs.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130,943 comprising base salary within the range of $101,821 to $111,917 plus 17% superannuation.
