About the role
Australia’s largest independent financial publisher and a world leader in financial investment research, is looking for a new Editorial Equities Analyst to join our Editorial Team.
Work for the Australian operation of a global leader in financial investment research and direct marketing
Competitive entry-level analyst salary
Hybrid working arrangement (four days remote, Thursday in our South Melbourne office)
Additional company paid holidays between Christmas & New Year
Direct mentorship from experienced editors and analysts
A flat, non-bureaucratic structure where your ideas get heard
A collaborative team culture (yes, including the mini table tennis table)
This is not a traditional analyst role. We’re independent. We think differently. We value curiosity and creativity as much as financial modelling.
You’ll be exposed to all aspects of the investment publishing process — from research and writing, to shaping new product ideas, to debating market moves with senior analysts. You’ll have genuine opportunities to grow, with mentorship from analysts who’ve built decades-long careers here.
About Us…
We’re an independent financial investment publishing company with a mission to challenge conventional thinking about investing. Our team produces market-leading research and analysis that tens of thousands of readers rely on every day.
This isn’t your typical analyst gig at a big bank. No suits. No rigid hierarchy. No corporate bureaucracy. Just smart people doing deep work on ASX stocks, crypto, and macro trends, and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
Fat Tail Investment Research publishes financial ideas and advice to our readers that they are unlikely to hear anywhere else. This is because Fat Tail is fully independent. We are a member of the Agora group of companies, an independent publishing network active since 1979, with affiliated businesses in the US, UK, France, Brazil, Argentina, China, India, Spain, Germany, South Africa, Chile, Japan and more.
The role....
The Editorial Equities Analyst will work directly with two senior analysts, covering ~80-100 ASX-listed companies (and crypto markets), conducting research, supporting investment publications, generating and writing original ideas. The role is a hands-on, high-responsibility role for a quick learner, making immediate contributions, and helping shape editorial content across newsletters, podcasts, and digital media.
You have…
Demonstrated ability to write clearly and communicate ideas effectively
A strong interest and foundational knowledge in stock markets and investing
Analytical skills: ability to interpret data, trends, and company performance
Creative thinking and the confidence to bring new ideas to the table
Ability to learn quickly, apply feedback, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a small, close-knit team
Strong work ethic, time management and resilience under deadlines
Knowledge of compliance and defamation considerations in financial publishing (training provided).
What we're looking for:
Mandatory:
Previous exposure to financial markets (personal investing counts)
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Interest in both equities and broader economic/market trends
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively under deadlines
Collaborative team player
Strong Desired/Preferred:
Tertiary qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Accounting and Economics
Strong demonstrable analytical skills
Experience with data analytical tools, including charting platforms and financial data tools.
Familiarity with the ASX and Australian investing landscape.
Interested?
If you bring energy, ideas, writing skills, and independent thinking, we want to hear from you.
