Manager, Media and Communications

The Social Services Regulator (SSR) is an independent statutory authority that exists to safeguard the rights of children and young people as well as people who use social services in Victoria.

The SSR regulates the Social Services Standards, the Child Safe Standards (for organisations without a sector specific co-regulator as well as the social services sector), and also administers the Worker and Carer Exclusion Scheme (WCES), Reportable Conduct Scheme (RCS) and Working with Children Check (WWCC) scheme and NDIS Worker Screening Check.

The Social Services Regulator takes an integrated and intelligence driven approach to identifying, preventing and excluding unsafe people from working with children and young people, as well as ensuring organisations that work with children and young people keep children safe from abuse and harm by meeting the Child Safe Standards.

As a co-regulator of the Child Safe Standards, the Social Services Regulator works with other co-regulators of the Child Safe Standards including the Department of Health, Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA), Victorian Early Childhood Regulation Authority (VECRA), and Workforce Inspectorate Victoria to keep children safe from harm and abuse.

THE ROLE

The Manager, Media and Communications is responsible for leading the Social Services Regulator's (SSR's) internal and external communications and education team. The role leads a team to deliver the strategic planning, delivery and oversight of integrated communications that support the Regulator and its staff to deliver on priority initiatives, projects and events. 

The Manager leads the planning, coordination and implementation of priority communications, key events, engagement and change activities. You will play a lead role in building relationships with the Regulator, Ministerial offices, internal program areas, key external stakeholders and across government. As a senior leader within the SSR, you will apply your communications expertise and insight to identify emergent risks and issues and collaborate to ensure a consistent, integrated and innovative approach to communications, content and creative development.

.ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

• Develop and oversee contemporary and integrated strategic communications plans that leverage the full functional capability of the Social Services Regulator and align to ministerial requirements and the Regulator's strategy.
• Contribute expertise and insight, providing advice and guidance to the Regulator and business units on emergent issues, risks and ministerial priorities.
• Provide strategic thinking and future planning and oversee change management initiatives and integrated approaches to enhance compliance with relevant schemes.
• Effectively manage and provide team leadership to a team of employees by modelling behaviours integral to good people management and public sector values and ensuring staff are supported to adequately fulfil all the duties
