ESS Technician

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking an experienced Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Technician to support the operation and maintenance of critical security technologies within Australian Parliament House.

Working as part of the ESS Operations team, you will install, maintain and troubleshoot a broad range of electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection and intercom technologies. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, integrity and continuous operation of systems that support the security of one of Australia's most significant national institutions.

We are seeking an organised, adaptable, and results-focused project manager who can successfully deliver complex projects in a high-profile operational environment.

• An experienced and motivated electronic security technician with demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex security systems, including CCTV, access control, intercom, and intrusion detection technologies

Job Specific Requirements:

• This role requires the applicant to occasionally perform technical upgrades outside of core business hours. This work may take place on weekends or public holidays.
• This role requires the applicant to participate in a rotating on-call roster for out of hours on site support.
• This role requires the applicant to participate in a rotating on-site roster for on-site support (8AM – 5PM).
• Current Australian Drivers Licence
• The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Tertiary technical qualifications such as Certificate III in Electrotechnology, Electronics and Communications.
• Open Registration Cable Licence.
• EWP Elevated Work Platform Licence.
• Restricted Electrical Licence
