Alexein is a Microsoft Partner offering Security Operations Center (SOC) solutions for Microsoft Defender and Sentinel clients. We provide both professional and managed services to organizations across Australia, serving small and medium-sized businesses as well as large enterprises with national and global reach.

We are currently seeking a full-time Junior SOC Analyst for the Microsoft Defender platform. This position involves monitoring and managing customer environments via our SOC platform.

The role is technical in nature and requires strong attention to detail.

What will you be doing?

• Monitoring security alerts and events across Microsoft Defender and Sentinel

• Performing initial triage on low‑severity alerts using documented playbooks

• Escalating suspicious or complex activity to senior analysts

• Assisting with basic remediation tasks (isolating devices, resetting credentials, blocking URLs, etc.)

• Supporting vulnerability management activities (scanning, tracking, follow‑ups)

• Maintaining accurate documentation of incidents, actions taken, and outcomes

• Assisting with user security queries (phishing reports, MFA issues, device compliance)

How do you get shortlisted for this role?

To be shortlisted for this role you need at least one year of experience with Defender and Sentinel and a basic understanding of:

• Microsoft 365 security features (Defender, Entra ID, Conditional Access)

• Endpoint protection concepts (AV, EDR, malware, phishing)

• SIEM tools (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel) — even at an introductory level

• Networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, firewalls)

And you need the ability to follow documented procedures for:

• Investigating alerts

• Escalating incidents

• Running predefined remediation steps
