The Primary Art Specialist Teacher is a valued member of the Academic Staff, contributing significantly to the intellectual, social, emotional and personal development of students. Through engaging and purposeful Visual Arts learning experiences, the role supports the School’s commitment to holistic education, creativity, student wellbeing and the development of character.

This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), 12-month fixed-term contract, commencing January 2027.

The Primary Art Specialist Teacher is a key member of our academic community. Working collaboratively with colleagues across year levels and specialist areas, you will create engaging and inspiring learning experiences that encourage creativity, artistic skill development and student voice. In this role you will:

• Deliver engaging and purposeful Visual Arts learning experiences aligned with the primary curriculum
• Foster creativity, imagination and self-expression through a range of artistic mediums and techniques
• Create a positive, inclusive and inspiring learning environment where all students can thrive
• Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience and a growth mindset through the creative process
• Assess, monitor and provide meaningful feedback on student learning and artistic development
• Contribute to exhibitions, displays and celebrations that showcase student work and achievement
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student learning, wellbeing and character development
• Engage in reflective practice, professional learning and continuous improvement

You are a passionate and creative educator who believes that the Arts play a vital role in developing confident, curious and capable young people. You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to:

• Teach effectively in a primary school context, holding relevant teaching qualifications
• Demonstrate success in delivering Visual Arts programs to primary-aged students
• Design engaging and inclusive learning experiences that inspire creativity and artistic expression
• Apply well-developed interpersonal and communication skills when working with students, colleagues and families
• Uphold a strong commitment to child safety and inclusive practice, supported by a current VIT registration
• Bring a collaborative approach, high professional standards and a commitment to character education
• Embrace continuous learning, personal growth and the development of others
