About the role

As a Diesel Mechanic at CDY Diesel Service, you will conduct comprehensive electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic diagnostics on heavy diesel engines, trucks, earthmoving machinery, and fleet equipment. You will perform scheduled preventative maintenance, oil and fluid changes, and safety inspections to manufacturer standards, as well as execute engine and component overhauls including stripping, repairing, reassembling, and testing diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, and braking systems. You will also inspect, test, and replace hydraulic pumps, hoses, cylinders, wiring looms, starters, and alternators, execute both workshop repairs and field service call-outs to client sites across the region, and maintain clean, safe work spaces while adhering strictly to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols and heavy vehicle road safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic diagnostics on heavy diesel engines, trucks, earthmoving machinery, and fleet equipment

• Performing scheduled preventative maintenance, oil and fluid changes, and safety inspections to manufacturer standards

• Stripping, repairing, reassembling, and testing diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, fuel systems, and braking systems

• Inspecting, testing, and replacing hydraulic pumps, hoses, cylinders, wiring looms, starters, and alternators

• Executing both workshop repairs and field service call-outs to client sites across the region

• Maintaining clean, safe work spaces and adhering strictly to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols and heavy vehicle road safety standards

• Accurate completion of work orders, job safety analyses (JSAs), parts requests, and service logs

About you

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) in the field or similar

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

• Proven post-trade experience working on heavy transport, trucks, or heavy mobile machinery

• Valid Australian Driver's Licence (HR/HC licence highly regarded)

• Strong diagnostic ability with modern scanning tools and mechanical systems

• Punctual, safety-focused, and capable of working independently or within a workshop team
