Medical Laboratory Scientist

Join one of Queensland's leading transfusion laboratories and play a vital role in delivering life-saving diagnostic services. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you'll perform a broad range of complex scientific and technical procedures while applying independent judgement to support safe and timely transfusion services. This is primarily a weekday position, with rostered shifts between 7:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in after-hours, weekend and public holiday rosters as required to support our around-the-clock service.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• A competent level of knowledge, expertise and skill in Transfusion laboratory testing. Recent experience in a hospital transfusion laboratory is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in a rotating roster which may include shifts outside of routine business hours.
• Effective time management skills, attention to detail and ability to focus in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, client focus and ability to communicate effectively.
• Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to comply with organisational policies and procedures, and assist the laboratory to comply with all relevant legislative, administrative, and professional standards including meeting NATA / ISO / TGA accreditation / certification requirements.
