Retail Nursery Worker Heavy Goods

About the role

The Nurso is seeking a Retail Nursery Worker Heavy Goods to join our team on a casual basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced retail environment, based at our Chandler QLD location. In this role, you will be responsible for handling and managing heavy goods within our nursery retail operation, ensuring our products are displayed effectively and accessible to customers. This position is integral to maintaining the smooth day-to-day operations of our store and delivering an excellent customer experience.

Key responsibilities

1. Receiving, unloading and organising heavy goods and stock deliveries

2. Moving and positioning large plant containers, bags of soil, mulch and other heavy nursery items throughout the store

3. Maintaining clear and organised display areas, ensuring heavy goods are safely and attractively presented

4. Assisting customers with loading and handling of heavy items at point of sale

5. Operating relevant equipment such as trolleys, hand trucks and other material handling tools safely and efficiently

6. Checking stock levels and reporting on inventory needs

7. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety protocols

8. Supporting the broader retail team to ensure efficient store operations

What we're looking for

1. Physical capability to lift, carry and move heavy items regularly (up to 20+ kg)

2. Experience working in a retail or warehouse environment (preferred but not essential)

3. Strong understanding of health and safety practices when handling heavy goods

4. Ability to work efficiently and independently as well as part of a team

5. Good organisational and time management skills

6. A friendly, customer-focused attitude and willingness to assist customers

7. Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to adapt to casual shift patterns

8. Relevant material handling or forklift certifications are advantageous
