About the role
Leadership Plus is a dynamic, values-driven disability advocacy organisation supporting people with disability to have their rights upheld, their voices heard and their choices respected. Our work is funded through the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, through the National Disability Advocacy Program and NDIS Appeals.
Our NDIS appeals advocacy work provides independent, rights-based support to people with disability who are seeking to pursue their entitlements under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated person with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to social justice and human rights. The successful applicant will bring an understanding of social inclusion, community participation and the barriers experienced by people with disability.
In this role, you will work alongside people with disability to develop, implement and review advocacy plans that identify goals, strategies and outcomes. You will support people to understand their rights and build their confidence to represent themselves where possible.
We welcome applications from individuals passionate about social justice who are keen to apply their skills in a meaningful, person-centred advocacy setting.
To apply, please refer to the attached position description and submit an application that addresses the Key Selection Criteria. Applications that do not address the Key Selection Criteria will not be considered.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a current police check and Working with Children Check.
The position is predominantly home-based, with attendance required at periodic team meetings in Melbourne.
For further information about the role, please contact Melanie on 0400 073 032 or mmuir@leadershipplus.com using the subject line: Disability Advocate - NDIS Appeals enquiry via EthicalJobs.
