The Department
The Occupational Therapy Services operate across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham Hospitals, with clinical services aligned to Alfred Health's strategic goals and operational performance targets. Better@Home is a contemporary and growing inpatient bed substitution model based at Caulfield Hospital. Patients are provided intensive inpatient-level multi-disciplinary rehabilitation in their home environment.
The program services both Health of Older Persons & Fast Stream Rehabilitation for all patient cohorts within the Alfred Health catchment. The supportive and dynamic Better At Home Occupational Therapy team is comprised of many Occupational Therapists with a wide breadth of knowledge and clinical specialty operating within a broader multidisciplinary team.
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist to join the large and supportive team at Alfred Care Group. The successful candidate will work with the Occupational Therapy and broader multidisciplinary team within the Better At Home service.
The successful candidate will be working with a mixed caseload of general medicine, neurological, geriatric and orthopaedic patients who have a broad range of complex medical, social and cognitive issues. Occupational therapists in Better at Home are supporting early discharge from hospital through comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention. This can include intensive rehabilitation, contextual functional cognitive retraining, prescription and implementation of aids equipment, and complex discharge planning to optimise safety and independence at home.
