Senior Service Technician (HVAC/Fire)

About this opportunity

Amos Air is growing its fire division, and we’re looking for an experienced HVAC technician ready to step up into a senior, dual-discipline role covering both HVAC and mechanical fire compliance. This position suits someone with a strong HVAC background who wants to broaden into fire systems testing, inspection and compliance work, and take on greater ownership of client outcomes.

You’ll continue servicing HVAC equipment across a portfolio of commercial sites, and build your expertise in mechanical fire systems including fire dampers, smoke exhaust and stair pressurisation. This is a senior role with real scope: you’ll be conducting tests and inspections, writing service reports, and preparing rectification quotations for failed mechanical systems. It’s a genuine career pathway for someone who wants to move beyond routine servicing into compliance, diagnostics and client-facing technical work.

You’ll work across a high calibre portfolio of commercial clients, including hospitals, schools, shopping centres, government buildings and high-rise residential apartments. These sites offer complex systems, strict compliance requirements and the chance to take real responsibility for outcomes.

You can expect to:

• Service, maintain and repair HVAC equipment across commercial sites
• Conduct testing, inspection and compliance checks on mechanical fire systems, including smoke exhaust, stair pressurisation, fire and smoke dampers, and mechanical shutdown systems
• Test and inspect pressurisation and supply air systems
• Prepare detailed service reports following inspections and testing
• Identify and diagnose failed mechanical systems, and prepare rectification quotations
• Read and interpret drawings, schematics, fire matrices and cause-and-effect documentation
• Liaise directly with clients, contractors and internal teams on findings and recommendations
• Represent the business safely and professionally across a range of commercial sites

We’re looking for

Essential:

• Trade-qualified technician with a solid commercial HVAC background
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems (supply air, exhaust, ventilation, air conditioning)
• Sound technical and fault-finding ability, with the confidence to diagnose issues and recommend solutions
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, controls, relays and mechanical operations
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
• Experience or strong interest in progressing into fire systems testing and compliance
• Ability to write clear, accurate service reports and rectification quotations
• Reliable work ethic, good presentation and a hands-on mindset
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of site outcomes

Highly regarded:

• Experience with fire and smoke systems (smoke exhaust, stair pressurisation, fire/smoke dampers)
• Experience with fire damper installations and testing
• Exposure to BMS or commercial building control systems
• Experience with testing, commissioning or compliance inspections
• Mechanical FPAS accreditation
