Role OverviewAs an Independent External Member of the Audit and Risk Committee (the Committee), you will play a pivotal role in guiding Victoria University towards continued growth and success. The Victoria University Audit and Risk Committee is a formally constituted committee of Council, with particular responsibility for providing Council with strategic advice, oversight and monitoring of risk management, legislative and regulatory compliance frameworks as well as internal accountability requirements and controls for Victoria University and its controlled entities. This includes oversight of the Internal Audit and External Audit functions. Your insights and leadership will contribute to shaping the future of our institution.
Committee Functions IncludeEnsure compliance with applicable legislations, rules and regulations.Establish, maintain, review, monitor and evaluate Internal and External Audit functions.Review, assess and monitor risk management practices are in place, safeguarding the integrity of our qualifications.Demonstrate strategic leadership and a strong understanding of corporate governance principles.
Primary Skills Requirement and QualificationsWe are currently looking for an individual with specialist skills in finance. The candidate must have formal accounting qualifications (e.g. CPA, CA) with current certification.Additionally, the candidate will have skills and experience in:Financial audit and financial management within complex operating environments.Contemporary knowledge, experience, and leadership at a senior executive level within a large private or public sector organisation.AICD Company Directors Course qualifications, or equivalent, is highly desirable.
Remuneration and CommitmentsCommittee Members receive remuneration in accordance with State Government Guidelines.Commitments include four Committee meetings annually. The Chair may call special meetings as required.
