CRE in Optimising Care in the Home for Older Australians Indigenous Scholarship

The NHMRC funded CRE in Optimising Care in the Home for Older Australians commenced in February 2026 to develop and translate evidence-based strategies to enable older Australians to remain living safely at home for as long as possible. The purpose of this scholarship is to enable an Indigenous student to undertake a program of study that will contribute to the CRE research initiatives to improve home care for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The scholarship is valued at $53,000 per annum for up to four years for a doctorate by research.

To be eligible for consideration for the award of the Centre of Research Excellence in Optimising Care in the Home for Older Australians Indigenous Scholarship, applicants must:

• be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and

• identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander; and

• be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they lived; and

• be currently admitted or be eligible for admission and have applied for admission, to a higher degree by research at Flinders University.
