Fortior Teaching Fellowship

Launch your teaching career in your final year at Canterbury College

This unique program provides practical classroom experience, professional mentoring, paid employment opportunities, and a supported pathway into the teaching profession.

As part of the program, participants will complete one of their two final-year practicum placements at Canterbury College, followed by a team-teaching experience that strengthens classroom confidence and professional capability.

As part of the opportunity you'll complete a 350-hour paid fellowship throughout your final year of study, earning approximately $13,650 (based on a casual rate of $39.00 per hour).

Professional experiences include:

• Week 0 preparation and orientation activities
• Student Free Days
• Classroom lesson observations, including evidence-based teaching practices
• Small-group student support and learning activities
• Co-curricular involvement across Sport, Performing Arts and Thought Sports, including Chess, Debating and eSports
• Coaching and student engagement opportunities

• More than 30 hours of structured professional development
• Personalised coaching on CVs, applications and interview skills
• Ongoing mentorship and support from Canterbury's Early Career Teacher Coordinator
• Networking and collaboration with experienced educators and leaders

Graduate Teacher Program participants receive priority consideration for suitable teaching opportunities at Canterbury College following graduation (subject to vacancies and recruitment processes).
