About Environmental & Regulatory Services
Our Environmental & Regulatory Services team is the front line of Council’s regulatory activities and works hard at keeping our community safe. We’re a dynamic, multidisciplinary team made up of compliance officers, technical specialists, and administrative officers. Together, we oversee a wide range of essential services, including the Animal Management Centre, Local Laws compliance, Environmental Health, Regulated Parking compliance, and Building and Development compliance. We are a people-focused and purpose-driven team that pride ourselves on the quality of work we do. We also like having fun and actively building an environment where people enjoy coming to work and going home feeling valued.
About the position
The Event Approval Officer plays a pivotal role in enabling safe, inclusive, and well-coordinated public activities by assessing applications against regulatory requirements, risk management protocols, and community impact considerations.
This role ensures alignment with council policies and strategic priorities, risk management protocols, and community expectations, while fostering collaborative relationships with applicants, stakeholders, and internal teams. Through timely approvals, transparent decision-making, clear guidance and proactive problem-solving, the officer contributes to vibrant public spaces, operational excellence, and a culture of trust, transparency, shared responsibility and proactive engagement.
This position will work under general direction.
