A different kind of heavy diesel role
EVOL LNG is seeking three experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanics to join our Downstream LNG maintenance team, supporting a specialised fleet of LNG road tankers and associated heavy transport equipment operating throughout Western Australia.
This is a hands-on mechanical role working across our Kwinana and Mt Magnet Maintenance Facilities, with occasional travel to customer sites and other operational locations when breakdown support is required.
The role operates on a 21-day rotating roster comprising 7 days in Mt Magnet, 7 days in Kwinana and 7 days off.
Indicative flat hourly rates are approximately:
$70 per hour while working in Kwinana
$80 per hour while working in Mt Magnet
🛠️ What you’ll be doing
Perform scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on prime movers, LNG road tankers, dollies, skeletal trailers and associated fleet equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, braking, suspension, steering, driveline, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
Undertake unscheduled repairs and breakdown maintenance.
Inspect fleet assets and identify defects and emerging maintenance requirements.
Prepare vehicles and trailers for statutory inspections, registration and compliance requirements.
Complete repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and heavy-vehicle standards.
Conduct post-maintenance testing and confirm equipment is safe and fit for service.
Respond to urgent fleet breakdowns at depots, roadside locations and customer sites when required.
Work with logistics, operations and technical teams to minimise fleet downtime and LNG supply disruption.
Record maintenance activities, labour, parts usage and defects accurately in MEX.
Identify recurring faults and opportunities to improve fleet reliability and maintainability.
Maintain tools, workshop equipment and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition.
👷 About you
You will be an experienced heavy vehicle mechanic with strong diagnostic ability and a practical approach to keeping equipment safely in service.
You will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting breakdowns and moving between workshop and remote operational environments.
You will ideally bring:
An Australian-recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience maintaining heavy road transport vehicles and trailers.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
Experience with braking, suspension, steering, driveline, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
A sound understanding of preventative maintenance and heavy-vehicle inspection requirements.
The ability to interpret service manuals, fault codes and manufacturer technical information.
A strong commitment to safety, quality and equipment reliability.
The ability to prioritise urgent repairs and make sound decisions during breakdown situations.
Good communication and maintenance handover skills.
✅ Essential requirements
Australian-recognised heavy diesel or heavy commercial vehicle trade qualification.
Current unrestricted Class C driver’s licence.
Ability to satisfy applicable pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol and site-access requirements.
Ability and willingness to work the designated 7 / 7 / 7 rotating roster.
Willingness to undertake travel to remote operational locations when required.

Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination driver’s licence.
High Risk Work Licence – Forklift Truck.
Air-conditioning handling licence.
Experience maintaining road tankers, dangerous-goods vehicles or pressure equipment.
Automotive electrical, welding or fabrication capability.
Experience in LNG, gas, mining, transport or remote operations.
Experience using MEX or another CMMS.
