Relief Teacher

The Opportunity

• Enriching relief teaching positions are available in primary school aged classes (P-6) at Autism Queensland Cairns School
• Small classes of 6-8 students
• Wide degree of support from an interdisciplinary team of teacher aides’ therapists, wellbeing, and behaviour support practitioners (dependent on needs of the students).

Our P-6 independent school is built on a strong inter-disciplinary foundation of Teachers, Teacher Aides and Allied Health Professionals. Working in a collaborative, supporting environment tapping into our market leading research to provide quality education and support to autistic students.

As a Teacher, you’ll support the planning, teaching and assessment in an alternative, flexible model of learning for autistic students, embracing a holistic, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming approach as we strive to empower each student to thrive in an environment that fosters their individual growth.

The role would suit a flexible, curious, and caring Teacher who is seeking to enrich their career in education while supporting a diverse group of students in their education journey with Autism Queensland.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in Education, Special Education, or Inclusive Education.
• Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
• Demonstrated experience with school aged autistic children
• Provide First Aid including Provide CPR qualification (or willing to obtain)
• Demonstrated understanding of current principles and practices for supporting students with diverse learning needs across a range of environments.
