Store Manager — Good Daze Canteen

Good Daze Canteen is a premium ice cream brand with a cult following and a Fitzroy store that people cross Melbourne for.

We make everything from scratch, with flavours inspired by different places around the world. We're opening our second store this summer, and we're looking for a Store Manager to help lead the next stage of Good Daze.

The role

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of both of our stores. The second location is opening this summer, so you'll be helping build the team and systems that make both stores run properly from day one.

This is a hands-on management role. You'll be on the floor, working alongside the team, especially on our busiest nights. You'll also own the things that make a store run properly:

• Leading the front of house team
• Rostering and managing staff
• Ordering and stock control
• Training and developing the team
• Maintaining our standards for product, service, cleanliness and presentation
• Hiring and helping build the team as we grow
• Working with the owner on improving the stores and the wider business
• Helping open and establish our second location

As we grow, there's plenty of room for this role to grow with us. We're looking for someone who wants to be a big part of Good Daze, not someone who's just looking for another management job.

Why Good Daze?

No kitchen. No chefs, no 6am starts, no produce prep, no grills. Just great ice cream, drinks, a small team and a very good product.

No corporate nonsense. No head-office audits, KPI decks, mystery shoppers or layers of management. You work directly with the owner. If something needs changing, we can usually decide and do it the same day.

A genuinely manageable operation. Our stores are small, our menu is tight and the team is lean. Each store runs around 85 rostered hours a week, and most shifts are run by one person, with extra support when we're busy. Even across two stores, that's below 200 rostered hours a week in total — a fraction of the staffing and operational complexity of a typical restaurant or café. You're managing two small FOH teams, not two full-service restaurants.

Real Responsibility. We want you to actually run the place. We'll give you the responsibility and trust you to use it.

A growing business. We're opening our second store this summer, with bigger plans beyond that. You'll be the senior person responsible for both stores, working directly with the owner. If you're good at this job, we'd much rather give you more responsibility than hire someone above you.

You

You have 2–3+ years of experience running shifts, stores or venues in high-volume hospitality — gelato, dessert, bubble tea, QSR, café or restaurant management would all translate well.

You're:

• Someone who notices when things aren't up to standard and fixes them
• Comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility
• Passionate about hospitality and giving people a great experience
• Naturally quite a clean person

Experience hiring and building teams is a big plus.

Thursday–Saturday evening availability is essential.

Full-time · $75,000 + super

You'll be responsible for both stores, splitting your time between them based on what the business and team need. The role is full-time, but because our stores are small and FOH-only, the operation is substantially leaner than a typical restaurant management role — giving you genuine responsibility across two locations without the workload of running two conventional venues.

This isn't a desk job. It's a hands-on role for someone who wants to help build something.
