Senior Program Officer

• Play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering innovative disaster resilience, recovery and assistance programs that help communities across NSW prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters
• Temporary, full-time opportunity up to December 2027 with the Grants, Program Design and Evaluation Division.
• Role can be based in Parramatta/Sydney or at one of our approved RA offices by negotiation, with flexible work options and hybrid arrangements available.
• Clerk 9/10, salary relative to experience, and ranges from $133,348 - $146,945 + super.

About the role

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking an experienced Senior Program Officer to join the Program Strategy and Engagement Team. This role is responsible for coordinating the design, development and delivery of strategic programs and initiatives that support the Authority's objectives and contribute to improved disaster management outcomes across the state.

Working across a complex stakeholder environment, you will lead program development activities, undertake research and analysis, provide expert advice, and collaborate with government, industry and community partners to deliver evidence-based solutions. This role will also contribute to the delivery of the Disaster Event Assistance Measures (DEAM) program and broader disaster funding reform initiatives that will shape future disaster assistance frameworks across NSW.

In this role you will:

• Lead and coordinate the design, development and delivery of complex program initiatives that address current and emerging disaster management challenges.
• Provide expert program advice and guidance to support effective program implementation and strategic decision-making.
• Undertake quantitative and qualitative research to identify emerging issues, develop evidence-based solutions and inform program design.
• Prepare high-quality briefs, reports, correspondence and other documentation for senior leaders and government stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development of innovative and practical approaches to resilience, recovery and disaster management programs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across government, industry and community sectors.
• Support stakeholder engagement activities to facilitate collaboration and the successful development of programs and initiatives.
• Monitor and manage program deliverables to ensure outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.

About You

You are a highly capable program professional with strong project management, research and stakeholder engagement skills. You thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex problems and have a track record of delivering strategic initiatives that achieve meaningful outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Experience designing, developing and/or coordinating government programs and initiatives.
• Experience leading or supporting strategic projects, policy initiatives or complex program delivery.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to translate insights into practical recommendations.
• Excellent written communication skills, including the preparation of reports, briefs and executive correspondence.
• Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
• Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• An understanding of, or interest in, resilience, disaster management, recovery programs or related government initiatives.
• A collaborative and outcome-focused approach, with a commitment to delivering high quality results.
