About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE
NthStar Constructions is seeking a qualified and dependable Carpenter to join our team, primarily working on the TEAK commercial development in Mudgeeraba.
TEAK is a multi-storey, mixed-use new-build project comprising commercial tenancies, offices and associated car parking. The successful applicant will work across the remaining construction stages over approximately the next 8–9 months.
While the majority of your time will be spent at the Mudgeeraba project, you may occasionally be required to assist on other projects within NthStar’s portfolio. These may include commercial construction, insurance repairs, rectification works and other general building projects throughout the Gold Coast and Brisbane regions.
This is initially a fixed-term employee position. Following completion of the project, there will be an opportunity to continue onto another project or move into a permanent position, subject to performance and workload.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Your work will be varied and will include:
• General site carpentry throughout the remaining stages of the commercial build
• Timber and lightweight framing, linings, fixtures and general finishing work
• Installation and adjustment of doors, frames, hardware and other building components
• Temporary works, hoardings, protection, access provisions and make-safe works
• Reading and interpreting architectural drawings, details and specifications
• Measuring, setting out, cutting and assembling materials accurately
• Completing alterations, rectification works and construction detailing as required
• Assisting with defects, finishing works and preparation for project handover
• Coordinating with site management, subcontractors and other trades
• Working across other NthStar projects when required
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work area
• Delivering work to the required quality, programme and safety standards
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
• A recognised trade qualification in Carpentry
• Previous commercial construction experience, preferably on new-build projects
• Residential, insurance repair or rectification experience would also be beneficial
• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical details
• Your own suitable carpentry tools
• A current construction White Card
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
• A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Good attention to detail and pride in your workmanship
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a site team
• A practical and flexible approach to varied work and changing site requirements
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and a strong work ethic
Additional licences, machinery tickets and a current First Aid Certificate would be advantageous but are not essential.
WHAT WE OFFER
• A stable employee position with consistent work expected for the next 8–9 months
• Wages based on qualifications and experience
• Superannuation, annual leave, personal/sick leave and applicable employee entitlements
• The opportunity to work on a significant commercial new-build project
• Varied experience across new-build, insurance and rectification projects
• A supportive and practical site team
• Company vehicle and fuel arrangements negotiable for the right applicant
• The potential to continue onto future projects or transition into a permanent position
