Warakirri College is an independent Special Assistance secondary school supporting young people to complete Year 10 and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) in a flexible, inclusive environment.

We have campuses in Blacktown, Campbelltown, Fairfield and Redfern and a Distance Education program.  Demand for our style of education is growing, and we are expanding our educational excellence to Picton and Cabramatta.  

We are seeking a passionate and resilient School Youth Support Worker to join our Fairfield team on a year's temporary contract (parental leave cover). 

About the Role 

As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students’ wellbeing and engagement in learning. Working closely with staff, families and external services, you will provide practical, relational and strengths-based support to young people navigating complex challenges.  

This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves, relationship-focused role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment, that isn’t always plain sailing! 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Support students’ emotional, social and behavioural development  

• Help build life skills, resilience, confidence and positive relationships  

• Provide individual support and facilitate restorative conversations  

• Coordinate the Student Induction Program  

• Identify student needs and connect them with appropriate supports  

• Conduct home visits and engage with families/carers  

• Supervise students during breaks and participate in excursions/camps  

• Maintain accurate case notes and documentation  

• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team 

About You: 

You are compassionate, calm under pressure, and committed to working with young people in a trauma-informed way. 

You will bring: 

• Qualifications in Youth Work, Community Welfare, Social Sciences or similar (Cert IV or higher) 

• Experience supporting young people in a school or community setting 

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills 

• Confidence managing challenging behaviours using a strengths-based approach 

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail 

• Current NSW Working with Children Check
