Protech are seeking an experienced Diesel/Specialised Plant and Equipment Workshop Supervisor, to join our client for various Pilbara Projects in Western Australia. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on maintenance leader with strong workshop and field service experience to take ownership of day-to-day maintenance operations across a diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment. Our client is a well-established Western Australian business providing specialised mechanical services and bitumen spraying solutions across the resources and infrastructure sectors. They hold a strong reputation built on quality, reliability, integrity and teamwork in the market.
This Role Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager, and is responsible for coordinating and supervising all workshop and field maintenance activities on-site. This includes planning and scheduling maintenance works, leading maintenance crews, managing resources and ensuring compliance with site safety standards.
Operating on a highly attractive
2 weeks on / 2 weeks off FIFO roster, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable and efficient maintenance outcomes while leading a team of tradespeople and contractors in a dynamic mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise day-to-day workshop and field service maintenance activities across site operations.
- Coordinate preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programs to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Develop and manage maintenance schedules, ensuring activities are planned effectively around operational requirements.
- Oversee maintenance crews, contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Create, review and manage work orders while monitoring labour allocation and resource utilisation across maintenance activities.
- Manage the procurement of parts, consumables and external services, ensuring cost-effective purchasing outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors, including negotiating pricing, service delivery and project requirements.
- Monitor maintenance expenditure, equipment downtime and operational costs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce maintenance spend.
- Analyse equipment performance, maintenance trends and reliability data to identify recurring issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Produce accurate maintenance reports, KPI data and performance insights for both management and client stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of maintenance strategies, procedures and best-practice systems to improve operational performance.
- Conduct toolbox meetings, pre-starts and shift handovers, ensuring clear communication across all maintenance teams.
- Foster a high-performance culture through mentoring, coaching and developing maintenance personnel.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with site, client and statutory safety requirements while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
- Coordinate site logistics including vehicle movements, procurement runs and operational support requirements as required
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a Maintenance Supervisor, Workshop Supervisor or similar leadership role
- Strong background within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing or mobile plant maintenance
- Proven experience coordinating maintenance activities and managing teams
- Strong understanding of preventative and corrective maintenance practices
- Experience using CMMS platforms such as SAP, Pronto or similar systems
- Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
Desirable Qualifications & Tickets
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualification
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management or related discipline
- FIFO site-based experience
- Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
