SANFLW SENIOR COACH AND LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

Two senior leadership opportunities. One shared ambition — to build a high-performing, connected and sustainable women’s football program at WAFC.

West Adelaide Football Club is seeking experienced and passionate football leaders to join the Club as we continue to strengthen and develop our women’s football program.

We are recruiting for two important and complementary positions:

Senior SANFLW Coach

Lead the team. Develop the players. Drive program and people performance.

Football Manager - SANFLW

Lead the program. Build the pathways. Shape the future.

These critically important roles will work closely together to ensure the SANFLW program and broader women’s football strategy are aligned, professional and focused on sustainable success.

The Senior Coach will have primary responsibility for the on-field performance, elite coaching and development of the SANFLW team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced coach to take ownership of a program, establish a strong football identity and create an environment where players and coaches are supported to perform at their best.

The Senior Coach will:

• Lead the SANFLW team and be accountable for on-field performance.

• Develop and implement a high performing football philosophy, game plan and playing style.

• Lead and develop the coaching and football support team.

• Establish a high-performance culture built on clear standards, and accountability.

• Design and deliver high-quality training and match preparation programs.

• Drive individual player development and performance.

• Work closely with the Football Manager - SANFLW on player recruitment, development and pathways.

• Identify opportunities to develop emerging players and build a strong talent pipeline.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with players, families, coaches and community football clubs.

• Provide strong leadership and communication across the playing group and football department.

• Ensure the SANFLW program reflects the values and standards of West Adelaide Football Club.

We are looking for an experienced football coach with the leadership capability to build a strong team environment and drive high performance with a one club mentality.

You will ideally have:

• Senior coaching experience in SANFLW, SANFL, AFLW or another high-performance football environment.

• Strong contemporary football knowledge and tactical understanding of Womens football competitions

• A proven ability to develop players and coaching staff.

• Strong communication and people leadership skills.

• The ability to establish standards and create accountability.

• Excellent planning, organisation and match-day management skills.

• A genuine passion for developing female footballers.

• The resilience and adaptability required to lead through challenges.

• Relevant coaching qualifications, which will be highly regarded.

The Football Manager - SANFLW will have responsibility for the strategic, operational and program leadership of women’s football at West Adelaide.

This role is focused on building an elite female football program and pathways, with a focus on relationships that enable the Club’s women’s football program to thrive.

Working closely with the Senior SANFLW Coach and the Club’s broader football and executive leadership team, the role will provide leadership across the entire women’s football program.

The Football Manager SANFLW will:

• Develop and implement a clear Women’s Football Strategy aligned with the Club’s broader strategic plan.

• Provide operational management and coordination of the SANFLW program.

• Work closely with the Senior SANFLW Coach to support football performance and program development.

• Lead player identification, recruitment and retention strategies.

• Develop clear pathways for emerging female talent.

• Build strong relationships with community football clubs, schools, academies and other talent pathways.

• Lead the planning, resources and operational requirements of the women’s football program.

• Work within agreed budgets and ensure effective use of Club resources.

• Support the recruitment, development and performance of coaches and football staff.

• Build strong relationships with SANFL, AFL, community football and other key stakeholders in our zones

• Identify opportunities to grow participation, talent and engagement in women’s football.

• Ensure women’s football is strongly connected to the broader West Adelaide Football Club.

• Provide regular reporting to the Club’s executive and Board on performance, opportunities, risks and strategic priorities.

• Support the Club’s broader inclusive football initiatives, ensuring they are appropriately supported and connected to the Club.

We are seeking a strategic and highly capable football leader who can combine football knowledge, people leadership and strong organisational capability.

You will ideally have:

• Experience in football administration, high-performance sport, coaching leadership or a similar football administration role.

• A strong understanding of SANFLW, AFLW or the broader female football landscape.

• Experience developing and implementing football programs or strategies.

• Strong player recruitment, talent identification and pathway development capability.

• Strong financial, operational and organisational skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• The ability to build trust and strong relationships across a football club and broader community.

• A collaborative leadership style with the confidence to make decisions and drive change.

• A genuine commitment to growing and developing women’s football.
