About the role
Exciting opportunity to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Herston. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders.
What you'll do
As the Clinical Midwife Consultant, you will provide expert leadership and support for the implementation of statewide maternity strategies that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, babies and families. Working closely with the Office of the Chief Midwife Officer, the First Nations Health Officer, the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations, and other key stakeholders, you will champion the First Nations Health Equity agenda, strengthen maternity workforce capability, and support the delivery of culturally safe, evidence-based care. You will manage statewide projects, monitor emerging trends and priorities across maternity services, develop reports and briefing materials, and foster strong partnerships to drive a coordinated whole-of-system approach to improving First Nations maternity health outcomes. Your ability to build effective relationships, engage respectfully with First Nations communities, and apply high-level communication, negotiation and organisational skills will be essential to success in this role.
