Are you an experienced estimator who wants more influence, greater ownership, and the opportunity to help shape a growing commercial construction business?

Saha Projects is looking for a commercially sharp, detail-focused Estimator to join our team and strengthen our pre-construction capability.

This is not a role where you simply measure drawings and send out trade packages. You will work closely with our directors, project team, consultants, and subcontractors to assess opportunities, identify risk, develop competitive pricing, and help secure the right projects for the company.

Saha Projects is an Inner West-based commercial construction company delivering fitouts, refurbishments, education projects, live-environment upgrades, heritage works, and selected new builds across Sydney.

We are a family-owned business with a practical, transparent, and risk-focused approach to construction. Our projects typically range from $100,000 to $10 million across the education, health, workplace, retail, industrial, and community sectors.

We are ISO certified in Quality, Environmental, and WHS Management and are building a capable, collaborative team that cares about delivering excellent outcomes for our clients.

The role

As our Estimator, you will take ownership of the estimating and tendering process from initial review through to tender submission and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Identify opportunities that align with our goals and ambitions

• Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and contract conditions

• Preparing detailed cost plans, estimates and tender submissions

• Completing quantity take-offs and developing trade scopes

• Identifying documentation gaps, buildability issues and commercial risks

• Sending subcontractor and supplier enquiries

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

• Reviewing and comparing trade quotations

• Following up subcontractors to achieve sufficient tender coverage

• Preparing tender clarifications, exclusions, qualifications and value-engineering options

• Assessing preliminaries, programme requirements, staging and site constraints

• Supporting early contractor involvement and design-development pricing

• Attending site inspections, tender briefings and client meetings

• Maintaining accurate estimating records, cost data and subcontractor databases

• Presenting tender recommendations to the directors

• Supporting the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team

• Completing post-tender reviews and contributing to continuous improvement

About you

You may be the right fit if you have:

• Experience estimating commercial fitout, refurbishment or construction projects up to $10M

• A strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and trade packages

• The ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and services documentation

• Sound knowledge of commercial construction costs and the Sydney subcontractor market

• Strong numerical, analytical and attention-to-detail skills

• Confidence communicating with subcontractors, consultants, clients and internal teams

• The ability to manage several tenders and deadlines without losing accuracy

• A practical understanding of project risk, buildability and value engineering

• Experience using estimating and take-off software

• Relevant qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering or a related discipline

• Minimum 3 to 5 years in a simialr role

Experience pricing education, healthcare, live-environment, heritage or complex refurbishment projects will be highly regarded.
