About ReledevReledev Australia is a small, dedicated not-for-profit organisation delivering international development programs through education in the Philippines, Bolivia and Guatemala, in partnership with aligned local organisations. Reledev receives Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) funding through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is a signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct.
Position summaryThe Finance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day financial management of Reledev Australia, supporting both domestic operations and international program financial accountability. The role maintains accurate financial records, supports budgeting and donor acquittal processes, and works closely with international partners to ensure funds are used effectively, transparently, and in compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys both the detail of day-to-day bookkeeping and the bigger picture of program financial accountability, and who is comfortable working closely with a small, close-knit team.
Key duties and responsibilitiesProgram financial management• Support the financial management of international and domestic programs, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and acquittals, while monitoring program expenditure.• Review partner financial reports, provide guidance on financial compliance, and contribute to partner training and capacity building.Compliance, controls and risk• Ensure compliance with donor requirements (including ANCP), maintain sound financial controls, support internal and external audits, and identify financial risks and variances.Day-to-day financial operations• Manage day-to-day financial operations, including recording daily transactions and reconciling accounts.• Maintain the general ledger, process accounts payable and receivable, and administer payroll via MYOB.Collaboration and stakeholder engagement• Collaborate with internal teams, international partners, donors, and service providers to support effective program delivery, financial accountability, and operational efficiency.
Key selection criteria• Demonstrated experience in a similar finance or bookkeeping role, ideally within the not-for-profit, NGO, or international development sector.• Sound understanding of financial management principles, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.• Experience preparing or reviewing donor acquittals, or a strong willingness and ability to learn ANCP/DFAT compliance requirements.• Proficiency in MYOB (or comparable accounting software) and confident use of Excel.• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues and partners.• A collaborative, flexible approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.• Cultural sensitivity and an interest in international development, and a commitment to Reledev's mission and values.
Qualifications and experience• Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).• CPA, CA, or progress towards professional accounting certification desirable but not essential.• Experience working with international program partners or multi-currency environments is highly regarded.• Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
Other requirements• Some flexibility to accommodate occasional early or late meetings with international partners across different time zones.• Commitment to Reledev's Child Protection, PSEAH, and Code of Conduct policies.
