Statewide Geotechnical is an established Melbourne-based geotechnical engineering consultancy providing investigation, engineering and laboratory-testing services.

Our experienced team of engineers, geologists and technicians supports projects throughout Victoria and interstate. Our operations include a NATA-accredited soil and rock laboratory, specialist drilling rigs and a broad range of field-testing equipment.

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to join our growing team on a full-time basis.

 About the role

Working with our experienced engineers, geologists and field personnel, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting geotechnical field investigations

• Logging soil and rock from boreholes and test pits

• Undertaking field sampling and in-situ testing

• Operating field equipment under appropriate supervision

• Coordinating with drilling crews, technicians and contractors

• Reviewing field and laboratory test results

• Assisting with engineering assessments and recommendations

• Preparing clear and accurate technical reports

• Supporting project administration and coordination

• Communicating with clients and site personnel

• Travelling to metropolitan and regional project locations

The right candidate

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or an equivalent discipline

• Approximately 1–3 years of relevant industry experience

• Some experience with soil and rock logging, sampling or site investigations

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Good attention to detail

• A practical approach to problem-solving

• The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

• A current Australian driver’s licence

• The ability to drive manual vehicles

• A current White Card, or willingness to obtain one

• Australian working rights

Australian geotechnical experience and familiarity with 4WD vehicles will be highly regarded.

Applicants must be comfortable working outdoors and physically capable of performing normal field-investigation duties.
