About Statewide Geotechnical
Statewide Geotechnical is an established Melbourne-based geotechnical engineering consultancy providing investigation, engineering and laboratory-testing services.
Our experienced team of engineers, geologists and technicians supports projects throughout Victoria and interstate. Our operations include a NATA-accredited soil and rock laboratory, specialist drilling rigs and a broad range of field-testing equipment.
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to join our growing team on a full-time basis.
About the role
Working with our experienced engineers, geologists and field personnel, your responsibilities will include:
Conducting geotechnical field investigations
Logging soil and rock from boreholes and test pits
Undertaking field sampling and in-situ testing
Operating field equipment under appropriate supervision
Coordinating with drilling crews, technicians and contractors
Reviewing field and laboratory test results
Assisting with engineering assessments and recommendations
Preparing clear and accurate technical reports
Supporting project administration and coordination
Communicating with clients and site personnel
Travelling to metropolitan and regional project locations

The right candidate
To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:
A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or an equivalent discipline
Approximately 1–3 years of relevant industry experience
Some experience with soil and rock logging, sampling or site investigations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail
A practical approach to problem-solving
The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
A current Australian driver’s licence
The ability to drive manual vehicles
A current White Card, or willingness to obtain one
Australian working rights
Australian geotechnical experience and familiarity with 4WD vehicles will be highly regarded.
Applicants must be comfortable working outdoors and physically capable of performing normal field-investigation duties.
