Volunteer Community Mentors - Employment and Small Business Programs

The Be Hers Mentoring Program provides a safe haven, opportunities, and the essential skills needed to be a beacon of hope for multicultural, and at-risk women who have been robbed of their freedom and dignity.
Through unwavering support and mentorship, we can empower these brave and beautiful women to rise above the threats of slavery and exploitation. Together, we will build their confidence, hone their skills, and equip them with the tools and strategies they need to thrive both economically and, in their health, and wellbeing.
By supporting women in their pursuit of fulfilling and meaningful employment, we are helping to create a more equal and just society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Mentors provide a listening ear, words of encouragement, a willingness to share, motivation, and connection. As positive role models, Mentors share their wisdom, skills, stories, and experiences with their participants, creating a long-lasting bond while giving back to the community.

As part of our employment and small business programs, volunteer Mentors provide both individual (1:1) and group mentoring to participants who are working towards employment or self-employment through business. Mentoring sessions are scheduled in coordination with program staff and participant availability and may be delivered in person or online, depending on program requirements.

This role focuses on building supportive mentoring relationships while providing practical guidance tailored to each participant's goals, skills, experience, and stage of development. Mentors facilitate group discussions, share industry knowledge and practical insights, encourage peer learning, and provide personalised support to help participants build confidence, develop job readiness and business capability, overcome challenges, and create sustainable pathways to employment or small business opportunities.

We welcome volunteers with experience in hospitality, retail, small business, entrepreneurship, management, customer service, employment services, or other relevant industries. If you have practical business knowledge, professional expertise, or lived experience that could inspire and support others, we encourage you to share your skills, insights, and networks to help participants achieve their goals.
