Sonographer

About the role

GEO Healthcare operates in 13 Victorian Men's Public Prisons providing primary healthcare services to the prisoner population. Travel across Victoria will be required for this role.

The Sonographer will assist GEO Healthcare Medical Practitioners to diagnose and monitor patients experiencing (or who may be experiencing) various medical conditions and diseases.

The Sonographer will use sonographic equipment to record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses; and present the sonograms and preliminary findings to the appropriate GEO Healthcare Medical Practitioner.

The Sonographer will work to their full scope of clinical practice in the provision of sonographic services, in accordance with GEO Healthcare policies and procedures, legislative and contractual requirements.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidates will have:

• Appropriate qualification in Sonography and ASA registration.
• Demonstrated experience working as a Sonographer.
• Ability to work to full scope of clinical practice.
• Strong technical, analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Consistent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people including staff, patients and other service providers.
• Ability to explain technical terms in a clear and understandable way.
• Ability and willingness to meet the service targets.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Other Requirements of the role:

• Valid Australian driver’s license and the ability to travel between locations.
• Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
• Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
• Onsite working (no hybrid or remote working).
