HSE Assurance Advisor

Join a growing organisation delivering complex renewable energy projects across Australia. We are seeking an experienced HSE Assurance Advisor to provide owner-side HSE assurance across Ark Energy’s construction projects.

The Role

This role will provide an independent view of HSE performance across our EPC and contractor environments. You will focus on verifying that key health, safety and environmental requirements are being implemented effectively, identifying emerging risks and ensuring assurance findings are followed through.

This is a hands-on assurance role, combining project engagement, field-based verification and stakeholder management. The role will be primarily based in Brisbane, with some travel to project sites as required by the project assurance program and risk profile.

Your role will be to provide credible owner-side assurance and constructive challenge.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Undertake planned and targeted HSE assurance activities across Ark Energy’s construction projects.
• Conduct site inspections, field observations and verification activities to assess whether key HSE controls are being effectively implemented.
• Review EPC and contractor HSE performance against contractual, legislative and project requirements.
• Identify gaps, emerging risks and recurring issues and provide constructive challenge where requirements are not being met.
• Report assurance findings and material risks to the HSE Specialist and relevant project stakeholders.
• Track corrective actions arising from assurance activities and verify appropriate close-out.
• Review project risk assessments and critical controls from an owner-side assurance perspective.
• Support the review of significant incidents and verify that corrective actions appropriately address identified risks.
• Undertake project-level environmental assurance, including verification of environmental controls and relevant EPC obligations.
• Contribute to HSE reporting, trend analysis and continuous improvement through insights from project assurance activities.
• Build effective relationships with EPCs, contractors and project teams while maintaining the independence required to provide credible assurance.

About You

You are an experienced HSE professional who is comfortable working in a contractor-led project environment and can balance practical engagement with independent assurance.

To help you succeed in this role, you will have:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in WHS, HSE, Safety or a related discipline.
• 5–7+ years’ experience in HSE/WHS roles, preferably within construction, infrastructure, energy, resources or another high-risk environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with EPCs, contractors or principal contractors.
• Experience undertaking HSE inspections, assurance, audits or verification activities.
• Strong practical understanding of WHS legislation, risk management and critical controls.
• The ability to identify gaps, assess the effectiveness of controls and provide constructive challenge.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working with environmental requirements or undertaking environmental assurance/compliance activities is highly desirable.
• Experience in renewable energy, major infrastructure or construction environments is highly desirable.
