About the role
WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?
The Peer Specialist plays a vital role within the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network Mental Health Service. This role draws on lived experience to support people navigating mental health challenges in a practical and meaningful way. It involves sharing insights that help consumers better understand their experiences, build self-management skills and engage with services. Working alongside clinicians, you’ll support recognition of early warning signs, contribute to relapse prevention planning and assist consumers to make sense of treatment options, including medication. A key part of the role is ensuring the consumer perspective is reflected in care planning and service delivery.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values clear communication, respect and shared accountability. The role also contributes to the effective running of the service through participation in supervision, training, documentation and continuous improvement activities. There is a strong focus on culturally responsive practice, inclusion and reducing stigma, while ensuring care remains practical, respectful and responsive to the needs of the community.
