diesel fitter

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Qualified Diesel Fitter to join our Townsville team. In this critical role, you will be directly responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational capability of Queensland Fire Department (QFD) fire appliances, pumps, systems, and associated equipment.
Your work will ensure that essential emergency service vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready to respond when the community needs them most.
Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct comprehensive fleet mechanical services, scheduled maintenance, and complex repairs on heavy fire appliances and equipment.
• Diagnostics: Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults utilizing modern electronic diagnostic equipment and road testing.
• Compliance: Perform scheduled vehicle inspections to ensure strict compliance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Transport and Main Road (TMR) legislative guidelines, as well as the Queensland Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995.
• On-Call Roster: Participate in an after-hours rostered on-call service to provide urgent, critical maintenance and repairs for emergency fleet vehicles.
• Administration: Perform data entry and complete digital job sheets, updating parts inventories and listings via an electronic Fleet Maintenance System.
• Safety: Strictly adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and efficient service delivery.
