About the role
We are seeking an experienced and influential leadership professional to lead our Fraud and Criminal Behaviours business line.
As the Deputy Commissioner, Fraud and Criminal Behaviours, you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of the Compliance and Engagement Group, the ATO and the APS more broadly. Leading in a highly sensitive and complex environment, you will foster a culture of integrity, professionalism, innovation and inclusion, while guiding a highly skilled and specialist workforce.
You will lead the ATO's response to external fraud and financial crime, protecting the integrity of Australia's tax, superannuation and registry systems. Working across the ATO, government and international jurisdictions, you will leverage strategic partnerships to identify emerging threats, strengthen intelligence capabilities and coordinate effective responses to serious and organised criminal activity.
You will drive the ongoing evolution of the ATO's counter-fraud capabilities through the adoption of advanced digital technologies, real-time intelligence and intelligence-led approaches. Through this work, you will strengthen the organisation's ability to prevent, detect and respond to fraud, support taxpayers to protect themselves, and ensure credible and visible consequences for those who seek to undermine public trust in Australia's revenue and registry systems.
You will build trusted relationships and collaborate across the ATO, government and external partners to deliver organisational outcomes and government priorities. As a member of the ATO's senior leadership cohort, you will provide strategic and people leadership in an increasingly complex operating environment, strengthening organisational capability and culture while helping shape the future direction of the ATO.
