Intermediate Accountant

About the role

Sulfaro Accountants Tax Advisors is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our growing team in Casula, NSW. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive tax advisory and accounting services to our diverse client base. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering strategic tax solutions and compliance services that drive value for our clients and support the continued growth of our firm. Your expertise will be central to helping businesses navigate the complexities of the Australian tax system whilst optimising their financial positions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge tax returns for small to medium-sized businesses, partnerships and individuals, ensuring full compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements

• Provide strategic tax advice to clients on structuring arrangements, investment strategies and tax minimisation opportunities

• Conduct tax compliance reviews and identify areas for improved tax efficiency and cost savings

• Manage client relationships professionally, responding to queries and providing clear explanations of tax matters and recommendations

• Maintain accurate and comprehensive client records and documentation in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements

• Liaise with the ATO on behalf of clients, including responding to inquiries and managing audit matters

• Stay current with changes to tax legislation and communicate relevant updates to clients and the team

• Support the preparation of financial statements and management accounts for clients

• Contribute to the development of tax solutions and service offerings that enhance our business services

What we're looking for

• A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, .

• Demonstrated experience in tax preparation and compliance work, ideally within an accountancy practice

• Strong knowledge of Australian tax law, tax accounting principles and ATO compliance requirements

• Proficiency with accounting software packages and tax preparation systems commonly used in Australian practices

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients

• High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all work undertaken

• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple client engagements

• Professional approach to client confidentiality and ethical standards

• Experience with business advisory or management accounting services is desirable

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms is advantageous
