About the role
Management Accountant
Join the City of Melville and play a key role in shaping informed financial decision-making across our organisation. We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to provide strategic financial advice, budgeting expertise and business partnering support that contributes to the successful delivery of the City's operating and capital works programs.
This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with leaders across the organisation, influencing decision-making through high-quality financial analysis, modelling and reporting.
Location: City of Melville Civic Centre
Salary: Level 8/9 $116,018.80 to $135,038.39 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super
Employment Type: 6-month Fixed Term Full Time | Potential for Extension
What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Senior Accountant (Management), you will provide financial leadership and support across a range of initiatives, with a strong focus on:
Monitoring budgets to track spending, manage costs and review budget changes.
Providing clear and practical financial advice to senior leaders, management teams, key stakeholders and budget responsible officers.
Supporting the annual budget process, mid-year budget review and Council Plan financial reporting.
Identifying financial risks, issues and opportunities, and recommending practical solutions.
Supporting financial compliance, reporting requirements, month-end, year-end and grant acquittal processes.
Improving finance systems, processes, tools, training and reports so financial information is easier to use and understand.
Building strong working relationships with budget responsible officers across the organisation to support better financial decisions.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant organisational projects while driving improved financial outcomes and decision-making across the City
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Business or a related discipline
CA, CPA or equivalent membership (or working towards membership)
Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
Significant experience in management, financial or project accounting
Experience in Ci Anywhere Financials will be highly regarded
Advanced Microsoft Excel is essential and financial modelling skills will be highly regarded[AF2.1]
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
The ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships across all levels of an organisation
Experience supporting budget development, and reporting activities
Experience within local government or complex operational environments will be highly regarded
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work with limited supervision, and quickly become effective in the role.
