Leading Hand Carpenter (High-Performance & Architectural)

Ukiyo Construction is expanding! We are looking for an efficient, high-end craftsman to join our team as a Leading Hand Carpenter on premium residential projects across Melbourne’s inner suburbs.

We’re after a qualified carpenter with solid residential experience and natural leadership skills. Someone who enjoys a productive rhythm on site, takes real pride in quality work, and can confidently keep a job moving forward alongside a great crew.

• High-Performance & Certified Passive Houses (cutting-edge, airtight building systems)

• Architectural Extensions & Renovations (including high-detail heritage homes)

• Custom Architectural New Builds

What's On Offer

• Premium Full-Time Wages: $52 – $55/hr + Super. We are looking for a committed leader for the long term, with clear paths for financial and career growth as you grow along with the business.

• Support & Collaboration: We build to elite standards, but we don't expect you to know everything on day one. You’ll be trained in our specific, high-precision methods so you can manage the site with absolute confidence.

What You’ll Do

• Assist the Owner: Help lead on-site by keeping the daily workflow organized, whether you are in charge of a small team or working together with the whole crew.

• Site Communication: Work with the owner to deal directly with builders and external trades on site, keeping the job running cleanly and professionally.

• Hands-On Variety: You will be on the tools daily across all stages of construction, keeping your skills sharp by jumping across the entire carpentry spectrum with a focus on quality and doing things right the first time.

About You

• Competent & Experienced: A fully qualified carpenter who can read complex plans, think three steps ahead, and solve everyday site problems cleanly on your own.

• Respected Leader: Someone who leads by example. You are friendly, approachable, and respectful to the workers under you, keeping the site vibe positive and productive.

• Reliable & Presentable: Punctual, dependable, and professional when dealing with builders and clients on site.

• The Essentials: Current driver's licence, White Card, reliable transport, and your own full kit of professional tools.
