CNC Leading Hand

Medina Engineering is a precision CNC machining and fabrication company servicing defence, industrial, mining and heavy engineering clients across Australia and overseas. We are looking for an experienced CNC Leading Hand to help lead our machining team and keep our milling and turning work running to the highest standard.

About the Role

You will be the go-to person on the workshop floor — technically strong, hands-on, and able to support and guide the team through the day. You will set the pace, manage priorities, program and problem-solve, and lift the capability of the people around you.

Key Responsibilities

•      Provide technical support across CNC milling and turning operations.

•      Advise on speeds, feeds and cutting strategies to optimise output and tool life.

•      Manage job priorities and workflow, and give clear instructions to staff.

•      CAD/CAM programming using Mastercam.

•      Train and mentor machinists in programming, setups and best practice.

•      Help drive and improve machining processes on the floor.

•      Support quality, efficiency and on-time delivery across the workshop.

What We're Looking For

•      Trade-qualified fitter / machinist with strong CNC milling and turning experience.

•      Confident programming in Mastercam (or a strong CAM background willing to move across).

•      Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling and workholding.

•      Ability to lead, instruct and develop a team.

•      Good communication and a practical, problem-solving approach.

•      Reliable, safety-focused and able to manage competing priorities.
