About the role
About Us
Fitness Hero is one of Sydney's largest commercial gym equipment and flooring retailers. We run two megastore showrooms in Bankstown and Villawood, a Shopify e-commerce store, and marketplace channels with Harvey Norman and Bunnings. We ship 100+ orders a day across thousands of SKUs, and we import a significant portion of our stock directly.
We've grown fast & continuing to do so. We're now investing in getting the back office as strong as the front end.
The role
This is a hands-on bookkeeping role, two days a week, on site. You'll own the day-to-day financial processing and work directly with the director.
**What you'll do:**
- Daily bank and credit card reconciliation in QuickBooks Online
- Accounts payable and receivable, including supplier payment runs
- Reconcile marketplace settlements (Harvey Norman, Bunnings) and Shopify payouts back to gross revenue
- Process weekly payroll, including super under the new Payday Super rules
- Maintain accurate transaction coding — particularly across freight, advertising and cost of sales
- Prepare monthly IAS figures and quarterly BAS working papers for our accountant to review and lodge
- Track inventory purchases and import costs, including customs GST
- Produce a monthly management P&L the director can actually use
What we need
**Essential:**
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience in a product-based business (retail, wholesale, e-commerce or distribution)
- Strong QuickBooks Online skills — this is our system and we need someone fluent in it. Happy to rebuild into a new system
- Solid understanding of GST, PAYG withholding and payroll obligations
- Experience reconciling merchant and marketplace settlements, not just bank feeds
- Accuracy and consistency. We need the books current every week, not caught up every quarter.
- Someone comfortable saying "that doesn't look right" to the director
**Highly regarded:**
- Registered BAS Agent (TPB)
- Experience with imported inventory, landed cost and customs GST
- Multi-channel e-commerce experience (Shopify plus marketplaces)
- Familiarity with Payday Super requirements
- Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent
## What we offer
- Two fixed days per week, flexible on which days
- On-site at Villawood, with some flexibility
- Direct working relationship with the director — no layers
- A genuine opportunity to build the finance function properly rather than inherit someone else's system
- Scope to increase days as the business grows
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note covering:
1. Which accounting systems you've worked in and for how long
2. An example of a business you've worked with that had inventory and multiple sales channels
