Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join ICOST PTY LTD in Perth, WA. This is a full-time position or Contract position based in our Perth office (WA 6000). In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and providing essential financial oversight throughout the construction lifecycle. Your expertise will be crucial in helping us deliver projects on time and within budget, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for construction projects of varying complexity and scale

• Analyse tender documents, specifications, and architectural drawings to determine project scope and resource requirements

• Conduct site inspections and measurements to support accurate estimating and cost analysis

• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain quotations and pricing information

• Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions

• Prepare cost reports and financial summaries for project stakeholders and management

• Manage cost control processes and assist in value engineering initiatives to optimise project profitability

• Maintain detailed records of estimates, quotations, and cost data for future reference and benchmarking

• Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure seamless project delivery

• Stay informed of industry standards, building regulations, and cost trends relevant to construction projects

What we're looking for

• Recognised qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related discipline

• Minimum 5 years' professional experience in estimating or quantity surveying within the construction industry

• Proficiency with estimating software and construction management tools (such as CostX, Buildsoft, or similar platforms)

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labour costs

• Advanced numerical and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to explain complex cost information clearly

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst meeting tight deadlines

• Sound understanding of contract documentation, project specifications, and tender procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Membership or eligibility for membership with professional bodies such as AIQS (Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors) is highly desirable
