This position is based at KHI JGM Accountants in Cairns, part of the broader KHI Partners group. We combine the resources and expertise of a multidisciplinary professional group with the personal service and close working relationships of a local Cairns team.

We work with a diverse range of clients and businesses, providing accounting, taxation, bookkeeping and advisory services. Our approach goes beyond compliance, with a focus on delivering practical, commercially minded solutions that create real value for our clients.

Your New Career

This is an opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper who is looking for more than a traditional bookkeeping role.

Initially, you will manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients and provide high-quality bookkeeping and reporting services across a range of businesses.

As the division grows, you will have the opportunity to build and lead a bookkeeping team, develop processes and systems, mentor junior staff and help shape the future direction of the division.

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, enjoys building strong client relationships and wants the opportunity to help build and ultimately lead a successful bookkeeping function.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing end-to-end bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients

• Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact

• Bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and BAS preparation

• Preparing regular management reports and financial information

• Assisting clients with bookkeeping systems and process improvements

• Working closely with our accounting and taxation teams

• Developing efficient bookkeeping processes and workflows

• Training and mentoring other bookkeeping staff as the team grows

• Identifying opportunities to grow the client base and bookkeeping division

• Taking an active role in building and developing the division

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and ambitious Bookkeeper who combines strong technical capability with excellent client relationship skills and a genuine interest in building and growing a bookkeeping division.

  You will ideally have:

• Strong bookkeeping experience and a sound understanding of accounting principles

• Demonstrated experience using MYOB, Xero and QuickBooks Online

• Experience managing multiple clients and deadlines

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

• Strong communication and client relationship skills

• The ability to work independently and take ownership of your work

• A proactive, entrepreneurial and growth-focused mindset

• The drive to develop new client relationships and grow the bookkeeping division

• The ambition to build, lead and mentor a team

• A willingness to identify opportunities, improve processes and contribute ideas

• The energy and motivation to grow with the business and take the division to the next level
