Senior Refrigeration Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing manufacturing site in Braeside, working with a well-established company that designs and supplies advanced heating, cooling, hot water and lifestyle products across the Australian domestic and commercial markets.
Reporting directly to the Group Manager – R&D, this is a hands-on engineering role where you will be involved throughout the product development process — from initial concept and system design through to prototyping, testing, optimisation, and production release.
What you’ll do - Design and develop air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems
- Undertake refrigeration system design, component sizing, selection and system integration
- Select and evaluate key components including compressors, heat exchangers, fans, expansion devices and controls
- Conduct laboratory testing, analyse performance data and troubleshoot system issues
- Optimise systems for capacity, efficiency, reliability, cost and manufacturability
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners on component specifications and technical solutions
- Support prototype development, testing, design reviews and product validation
- Ensure products meet relevant Australian safety, performance and compliance requirements
- Manage engineering projects from concept through to product release
- Work collaboratively with R&D, manufacturing, quality and other internal teams
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineers and other team members
About you You will be an experienced refrigeration or HVAC engineer with strong practical knowledge and a hands-on approach to product development.
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration, HVAC or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics and system design
- Significant experience in HVAC, refrigeration, heat pump or related product development
- A strong understanding of refrigeration components and system behaviour
- Experience with performance testing, fault finding and design optimisation
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Knowledge of relevant Australian standards and product compliance requirements
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and project management skills
- The ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing and other functions
