CIVIL CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST – ALL-ROUNDER
All Aspects of Civil Construction | Above-Ground Mining | Appin, NSW
Allman Excavations Pty Ltd
We are seeking experienced, reliable and motivated Civil Construction Specialists to join our small team across several full-time positions at an above-ground mining site based near Appin, NSW.
This is a varied and hands-on role covering all aspects of civil construction, including plant operation, earthworks, drainage, water management, trenching and general civil works. We are looking for motivated all-rounders who take pride in their work, maintain a strong focus on safety and quality, and are willing to contribute across all areas of the operation.
There is no typical day in this role. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to work across a broad range of civil construction activities within a diverse above-ground mining environment. Your responsibilities may include:
Civil project management, including project scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality assurance, site supervision and risk management.
Resolving construction issues and coordinating effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
Operating a range of plant and equipment, including excavators, long-reach excavators, skid steers, compact track loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, heavy vehicles, telehandlers, dozers and various attachments.
Water management and environmental compliance.
Completing a range of civil and WHS requirements, including Take 5 assessments, Toolbox Talks and mandatory site documentation.
Truck driving and the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of materials.
Drainage and stormwater installation, trenching, battering and final trim.
Daily physical duties, including shovelling, lifting and other manual tasks. Applicants must be physically capable of performing these duties.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:

Excellent attention to detail and pride in completing work accurately and to a high standard.
Pride in the care, maintenance and operation of machinery.
Initiative, a proactive approach and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently with minimal supervision.
A current driver's licence, HC Heavy Vehicle licence is highly desirable.
A willingness to work flexible hours.
Previous plant operation experience, with current VOCs and relevant tickets for backhoe, excavator and skid steer operation.
Previous mechanical, fencing, farming, plumbing or civil experience is advantageous but not essential.
Full-time employment with a small, hands-on civil contracting team.
Approximately 40–50 hours per week.
Various roster options available. (Monday to Friday: 6:00am – 4:00pm). (Alternative roster: Sunday 6:00am – 12:00pm at double time, followed by Monday to Thursday 6:00am – 4:00pm.
35 hours per week at base rate, with regular overtime opportunities for the right candidate.
Approximately 15 hours of overtime per week, paid at time-and-a-half and double-time rates as applicable.
5 weeks annual leave per year, plus personal leave.
Daily transport from home to the workplace may be available depending on your location, helping you significantly reduce weekly fuel and vehicle costs.
