Production/Process Engineer

About the role

Airlift Hovercraft is a Gold Coast based manufacturer of advanced hovercraft producing highly specialised craft for defence, government and commercial customers worldwide. We are seeking a practical and organised production/process engineer to join the team and play a key role in the design, manufacturing, testing and delivery of exciting hovercraft projects. This is a hands-on engineering and production role, with a strong focus on daily scheduling, project management, BOM control and keeping multiple builds on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and actively manage production schedules across multiple hovercraft
• Maintain MS Project schedules and Gantt charts
• Undertake design tasks using PTC Creo and Autodesk Inventor
• Coordinate production between engineering, manufacturing, procurement and management
• Coordinate procurement and supplier activities, particularly long lead time items
• Monitor project progress and identify schedule risks, critical path items and bottlenecks
• Review engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements and translate them into practical production and procurement activities
• Support engineering changes, configuration control and production documentation
• Work directly with production staff to resolve manufacturing and assembly issues
• Support testing, commissioning and customer acceptance activities

About you

• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Process)
• Strong organisational and project coordination skills
• Strong practical mechanical aptitude and an interest in manufacturing
• Experience using MS Project and with Gantt Charts, production scheduling/planning
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Experience with CAD software, PTC Creo experience is highly desirable
• Marine and/or defence experience is highly desirable
